Firstly, don’t be too hard on yourself. We can’t change the past; we can only move forward, so take a deep breath. Remember the why. Why did you start on this journey? What did you hope to get out of it? Next, figure out why you got off track. Too busy at work, change in school schedule, family issues or did your budget change?

Then make a plan!

Can’t get to the gym? Ok, can you find 10 minutes in your new schedule for a walk? How about a few ab crunches before you get dressed for work?

Between work, family, and school, there’s no time to cook and meal prep for the week. How about keeping a variety of frozen veggies in the freezer, some pre-cooked grilled chicken or even some tuna packets in the house. Look at the online menu at your favorite restaurant, are there any reasonable choices?

Lastly, give your support person a call. Your buddy, the person you started your weight loss journey with, is the perfect person to help you get back on track. Odds are, they also have had a slip up and may have the perfect tip or trick to help you. Make a plan and get back on track together.

The weight loss journey can be fraught with challenges and slip-ups. How you tackle them will impact your journey. Don’t wait to make a new plan. The next meal, even the next morning, is a great opportunity to make a change.
