Obesity and the risk of cancer

You may be surprised to learn that having excess weight or being obese increases the risk of getting 13 different types of cancers.

Experts believe it the risk of cancer is largely due to the inflammation caused by visceral fat, the fat that surrounds your organs.   Weight loss is associated with reduced risk of cancers such as breast, endometrial and colon cancers. Losing as little as 5-10% of your total body weight can reduce your risk of developing cancer.
