Dear Me,

Dear Diary,

I was showing my niece and nephew their baby pictures, circa 2017. While they got a kick out of seeing the pictures, it got me thinking of my transformation over the past few years.

I got up the courage to ask for help and wow! It paid off. I started this journey at 180 pounds, high cholesterol, prediabetes. I always thought of myself as healthy. It was a SHOCK! Now I am 110. I hit some bumps along the way – I regained 30 pounds during COVID. It was definitely easier this time asking for help.

Back then, 5K took 1 hour to jog. I was huffing and puffing, out of breath. My hips hurt.  Now, I can’t wait to get out there to jog. While I did shave some time off, my hips do not hurt, and I am not nearly as out of breath.

My trainers are the same and yet the exercises they are having me do are not. I can hold a handstand and we are working on mountain pushups. I feel great and empowered.

I have learned to love myself. I have learned to give myself a break. I am not perfect. I am ready to pay it forward, share lessons learned and be someone’s cheerleader.

Love,

Me
